Meningitis Vaccine

The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends the meningitis vaccine, Menactra, for all 11 and 15 year olds and those entering college. Menactra protects against a rare, but sometimes fatal, form of bacterial meningitis, which is an infection of the lining of the brain and spinal cord.

Check with your insurance company to be sure of your coverage. For more information about this form of meningitis and the meningitis shot, see the CDC website: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dbmd/meningitis_vaccine.htm
